2020 - Covid-19
It is with a great deal of reluctance that the Board of the Staffordshire Union of Golf Clubs have taken the decision to cancel all County Golf for 2020. The safety of everyone involved in golf has been paramount in making this decision. (Monday 6th July 2020)

Staffs Senior Men & Staffs Veteran Ladies Ingestre Park GC, 26th September 2019
This year's season ending event took place at the home course of the Senior Men's Captain. The two invited teams of 16 play a Better Ball Stableford, off full handicaps, with one Gent's and one Lady's score to count on each hole. In the midst of a wet day (and week) of weather we managed to play the full 18 holes, with the greenkeeping team thanked in particular for their great work in achieving this - as were the professional, catering, bar and office staff. Two teams scored 75 points, and the proud winners on countback of the newly presented trophy for this event are pictured below. Andrew Dathan had prepared a quiz on the 2019 rules of golf, which we completed over dinner and from which we all learned something. Terry Henwood made a presentation to outgoing Captain Mark Ashton in appreciation of his two year term, and Steve Wild joined us for the meal and sent us all home with a smile on our faces with his reminiscences! In 2020 we return to Ingestre Park GC, as it's the home course of next year's County Veteran Ladies Captain - Bev Hensley.
Pictured above with the Salver are the winning team of Dave Marshall, Bridget Locke, Lynn Gray and Mike Bates.

Glen Macbryde - RIP
Fifteen members of our squad were amongst the many people in attendance at Glen's funeral on 2nd May 2019, to say a final 'farewell'. There are some people in life who are irreplaceable, he was one of them. Of his many golfing achievements (aluded to by fellow past County Seniors Captain, Terry Henwood in his wonderful tribute) the standouts for the County Seniors that he will long be remembered for are captaining us to win the West Midlands League Title in 2016, and soon thereafter the Midlands Title. He had many endearing foibles, which made him the memorable person he was! Sadly the ALS version of Motor Neurone Disease has taken him from us all too soon. We are staying in contact with his wife Margaret (in the photo taken by Prof. David Thomas whilst caddying for Glen, on the back of the Order of Service - see links immediately below) and will keep the many, happy memories alive.
