The Staffordshire Union of Golf Clubs (SUGC) was formed in 1923 to promote golf in the County and to provide competition for top County players of all age groups as a route to Midland, National and International golf. Although this principle is still held today, due to the fast paced world that we now live in, the Union is changing accordingly.

The Staffordshire Matchplay Final, contested by the top 18 players from the Staffordshire Amateur Championship, reached its conclusion on Monday, 14th October. It was a "nip and tuck" affair between Tom Hewitt (South Staffordshire GC) and young Alfie Turner (Trentham GC)
